Help Build the Next Generation of Unlikely Leaders Building Purpose. Leaving a Legacy.
Every day, there are young people sitting in juvenile halls, men and women rebuilding their lives in recovery homes, and individuals serving time in correctional facilities who are searching for hope, purpose, and a fresh start.
Many of them will never attend a leadership conference, many will never walk into a bookstore. Many have never been told they were created with purpose. That's why we launched the Unlikely Leader Initiative.
Through this initiative, we're placing copies of The Moses Factor, participant workbooks, and leadership resources directly into juvenile halls, prisons, recovery programs, schools, churches, and mentorship organizations. These aren't simply books. They're tools that spark conversations about identity, responsibility, faith, leadership, and second chances.
We believe that one book can start one conversation and one conversation can change one life. One changed life can impact an entire family, a neighborhood, and ultimately a community.
Become a Community Partner: We're inviting businesses, churches, foundations, civic organizations, and individuals to join us in this mission by sponsoring books and leadership resources for those who need them most.
Your partnership helps provide:
Copies of The Moses Factor, Unlikely Leader Initiative Participant Workbooks, Leadership curriculum for juvenile halls and recovery programs, Graduation certificates and leadership cohorts, Mentorship and discipleship opportunities
Whether you sponsor 10 books or 1,000, you're making an investment in someone's future.
You're helping a young person discover purpose, helping someone in recovery believe a new chapter is possible. You're reminding an incarcerated individual that their story isn't over. Together, we can place hope into the hands of people who need it most.
Join the Movement: If you'd like to partner with the Unlikely Leader Initiative by sponsoring books, funding leadership cohorts, or helping us expand into more juvenile halls, prisons, schools, and recovery homes, we'd love to connect with you.
Every gift helps us reach another person. Every partnership helps us build another leader. Every book helps write a different future.
Because God Can Even Use THAT Guy.
OUR MOVEMENT
Love Thy Neighbor is a grassroots movement dedicated to uplifting communities through acts of service, mentorship, and creative expression. Founded by Ruben Torres in 2010, Love Thy Neighbor has been actively involved in serving communities across San Diego and Tijuana, bringing hope and transformation through outreach programs, youth mentorship, and cultural initiatives.
Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals—especially at-risk youth—by fostering creativity, unity, and opportunity. We organize toy drives, school supply giveaways, food distributions, and community cleanups, ensuring that families in need receive essential resources. Through our arts-based rehabilitation programs in juvenile detention centers, we provide incarcerated youth with creative outlets, mentorship, and second chances.
Beyond San Diego, Love Thy Neighbor has extended its outreach to shelters and orphanages in Tijuana, offering support, supplies, and encouragement to vulnerable children. Our annual toy drives have brought joy to thousands of kids, particularly those affected by poverty and illness.
At Love Thy Neighbor, we believe in the power of community, collaboration, and giving back. By working alongside artists, athletes, musicians, and local leaders, we create opportunities for growth, healing, and unity. Join us in making a difference—because when we love our neighbors, we build stronger, more connected communities.
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of those in our community by launching and engaging programming, events, and initiatives that will provide education, resources, tooling and opportunities to the under served members in the community.
